While men’s fashions may not have changed quite as drastically as have women’s fashions in the last few decades due to various religious, social, and economic movements, there still have been blessed changes in the styles that are available for men today.  A great many fashion houses have seemingly recognized that by focusing solely on women, they were missing out on a large market share that was also in need of updated threads; they were also sticking fashionably dressed women with men in severely outdated togs.  Now, men’s fashion is just as cutting-edge as women’s, with a fantastic amount of classic options available as well that will do well in a man’s closet for years to come.

For the young student, hoodies are hugely popular for layering, and are available in a wide variety or basic and more stylish forms.  Coats such as the duffle coat and the parka, as well as mock military jackets, are immensely popular as far as warm outerwear goes, with leather jackets, such as the bomber jacket, also being a stylish staple.  For a bit more of a structured yet still suitably casual style, the peacoat is also an option.  Brands such as Bench and Stone Island have a wide variety of coats and jackets suitable for everyday menswear.

For professional men, styles such as the trenchcoat, especially in wool or cashmere, look especially sharp over business clothes, and complete any office ensemble nicely.  Certain styles of leather coats are also versatile for both day and evening.  Look to names like Ted Baker for outerwear that will strike you a sharp image at the workplace.  For workplaces that entail more physical labour, brands such as Helly Hansen specialize in tough, durable clothing meant for outdoors work as well as athletic gear and survival wear.

There are several brands which specialize in casual athletic wear, such as Berghaus, North Face, and Regatta.  Berghaus began as a company which marketed to climbers, but since has branched out to produce high quality casual wear for men, women, and children.  Similarly, North Face began as a company geared towards mountaineers and snowboarders, yet quickly gained mainstream and international popularity.  Regatta (a name associated with boats and boating), along with Berghaus and North Face, all produce fleeces, waterproof jackets, and heavier parkas suitable for everything from serious outdoor activities to casual weekend fun.
